Al fin de semana primero

So it has been one week of living in Costa Rica and by no means am I short on observations, comments, or amusing stories.  As i sit right now at the computer with my back to the mountains looking at the last fleeting moments of the sun, I still find it hard to believe that I am here.
Today was fun.  My first Saturday after finishing the my first week of school.  It felt good.  It could have felt better but there was a definite need to do a little celebrating in town last night and the residual effects felt the next day.  Either way, we got our stuff ready (we try to take a minimal amount of things.  You would not believe how much more you sweat the more you have with you.) and began the 10 minute jungle walk into town.  we walked through town to catch the bus on the other side of town that takes you to Manuel Antonio beaches.  It was very very hot today.  The walk was not fun. Oh and I was carrying my board with me (didn't I say to take less=less sweat) because I wanted to try out the new mock spanish conversation that I had been replaying in my head all morning.  We also salsa danced.  It was pretty cool, except the bar is a little more gringo than I would prefer.  But there's football there, so....Here's a video from last night. It is hard to see anything. Good stuff.  I think.

Well, we have met a ton of people.  It's actually really not hard to do so with me being in school and all, but even just going out into town, surfing, going to a restaurant...people are very friendly here, or at least the ones I have met.
School is pretty consuming both in time and mental exercise, but it's fun.  I think maybe I can be a teacher.
Have I said that it's hot?  It is, and it's humid.  Shirts are pretty optional walking around, which is good.  They would be merely sweat rags in 8 minutes.  I walk everywhere pretty much.  The whole walking/driving conversion has been kinda good I think.  Plus people can't drive here, so IF I had a car I would probably end up totaling it or hitting someone.   Anyways it's Saturday night, Kate doesn't want to walk into town so I can't watch football, but pura vida, I am tired from surfing all day and have a beer in my hand.  Things are good.  More later.....

  1. Hey, what up?!? Eric, you did not miss much on Saturday (football, or futbol americana), the Panthers got killed by the Cardinals. You say its hot, but is it hotter than the dog days in Wilmington? I remember when it got 90 plus in the house! Kate, keep posting pictures, they are great, and good luck with your job hunt. Keep me posted, and look out for those earthquakes!! Peace, Bucho
